Judge signs order against the City of Hidalgo, Texas
A Judge issued a Temporary Restraining Order against the City of Hidalgo to stop them from confiscating signs accusing Commissioner Gus Sanchez of theft.
The order also prohibits the City from retaliating against the business owner that posted the sign. Shortly after Chief Romeo Rodry executed the Mayor Pro Tem’s orders, the business owner wrapped his van with a similar sign… soon after, the van was impounded and his business permits revoked for unpaid taxes. It was a trivial amount, which Mr. Franz immediately paid off.
The video of that embarrassing day for the residents of the City of Hidalgo, and the RGV, was exposed at RGV: Truth & Justice… the local media continues to ignore it.

ACCUSED OF THEFT
On September 23, 2020, local business owner, Rudy Franz, erected a sign in his property on Hidalgo’s most transited street.
The sign accused Commissioner & Mayor Pro Tem of the City of Hidalgo Texas, Gus Sanchez of embezzling over $65,000 from the Hidalgo Independent School District.
It seems Commissioner Sanchez, then-Assistant Athletic Director, would rent out the school’s gym for youth tournaments and keep the money for himself.
When he was caught, a deal was made to allow Sanchez to pay it back and avoid prosecution. An investigation by the TEA was also dropped due to insufficient evidence.
Except, it appears Commissioner Sanchez stopped making payments once he was on the clear.
Now that he is up for re-election, his skeletons are being dragged out again.
ABUSE OF POWER & RETALIATION
Chief Romeo Rodriguez of Hidalgo PD admitted to Mr. Rudy Franz that Commissioner Gus Sanchez ordered him to remove the sign. He refused to repeat it once the recording of the incident started; however, his reaction when he was confronted on camera about it made it clear it was true.
Defamation of character is a civil matter, and Sanchez should have sued to get a TRO to remove the sign. Instead, he ordered city employees to trespass on private property and take the sign without a warrant, essentially stealing it under threat of violence.
The theft of the sign was supervised by Frank Cruz, the municipal court bailiff, and Jaime Gaona, the director of the youth center, both are candidates financed by the PAC of the Mayor & Mayor Pro Tem to gain control of Hidalgo ISD & Valley View ISD. And, Arturo Viveros of code enforcement, brother Juan Viveros who is also a candidate for Valley View ISD.
This is only one of the many actions carried out by the City of Hidalgo to promote the re-election of the corrupt Commissioner Sanchez, and his other two running mates, Augusto Contreras and Bertha Sosa
We will be covering their actions more extensively in our upcoming exposé of Mayor Sergio Coronado and Mayor Pro Tem Sanchez.
After we exposed the video at RGV: Truth & Justice, Commissioner Sanchez filed a lawsuit against the business owner, Rudy Franz for defamation… it is obviously just for show.
ARE WE HOPELESS?
Again, it is only when they infringe on the rights of the wealthy that corrupt politicians see any consequences. And even then, taxpayers end up paying.
The actions of the Chief of Police, the Mayor Pro Tem and everyone that participated in the theft and political retaliation are clearly criminal… but nothing will happen to them.
People that can not afford to hire an attorney to file a TRO are hopeless… they must keep their political preferences and criticism to themselves, or face the consequences.
While Mayor Sergio Coronado and Mayor Pro Tem Gus Sanchez are among the most shameless and vile corrupt politicians we have seen, they are not the only ones. It happens in many cities and government entities across the Rio Grande Valley
And, the local media remains silent. The theft of the political sign is yet to be reported in the local news.
